Air Filtration
The Maintenance Services currently maintains approximately 375 air
handling system on campus, the systems vary from individual room air
handling units to building wide system.
All air handling system are filtered using various filtration methods
and efficiencies. We currently maintain a fixed schedule of all air
filter changes, our frequency for filter changes vary from monthly to
18 months apart with 6 months interval being the most frequent interval.
Along with a strict and comprehensive program for filter changes which
includes duct and condensation pan cleaning, constant leak checks of
unfiltered air around worn gaskets or damaged filters, we also
constantly monitor and evaluate frequency schedules of each unit with
our in house skilled trades personnel to provide the best filtration
for the customers and equipment efficiency.
We currently use a broad range of filters such as
pleated and poly panel filters which are 25-40% efficient to high
efficiency bag filters with 45-85% efficiency at 1 micron filtration
capabilities. Several of our filters have anti-microbial which effectively
controls growth of mold, mildew and fungi on filters.
In an average year we schedule approximately 900 work orders for
filter changes with approximately 7000 filters being replaced
in 161 buildings across campus.
