In December 2008 all incandescent traffic lights owned by WMU were replaced with LED lights. The lights replaced include the pedestrian flashing lights between the Bernhard center and the Administration Building, Goldsworth Valley Dormitories and the pond and Waldo Library and Moore Hall.
An incandescent traffic signal typically draws 67 watts. When compared to an LED traffic signal, which draws 5.78 watts the cost savings is around 90%. When these savings are spread across campus to the 6 lights it is around $700 a year.
