F40T12 to F32T8 - Energy Conservation

F40T12 to F32T8

For energy savings T12 lamps and ballast can be changed to T8 lamps and Ballast. The T12 lamp is on the left. Originally these lamps were 40 Watts. [F40T12] They are now only made as 34 Watt lamps. [F34T12]
The T8 lamp is on the right. These lamps are 32 Watts. [F32T8].

To convert from T12 to T8 lamps, the ballast must also be changed. T12 ballasts are typically magnetic units. The T8 lamps are electronic units. T12 Magnetic Ballast operate at 60 Hz. T8 Electronic Ballast operate at 20,000 Hz. There is almost no flicker with a T8 lamp and no noise to the ballast. T8 conversions typically improve the overall light output and light quality in the area they are installed.

This is an Electronic T8 Ballast. A magnetic ballast consumes an additional 15% in wattage above the consumption of the lamps. A T8 electronic ballast has minimal consumption.
