What Do We Do?

Our job is to maintain and upgrade the hundreds of computers that the Physical Plant employees utilize on a daily basis.

Hardware/Software

Workstations:

  • New laptops are Windows XP.
  • Most desktops are Windows 2000 Professional.
  • A few lingering Windows 95 to support old applications.

  • Servers:

    We run two Netware servers as our primary NOS. All the workstations log into one of these servers and acquire any new updates or patches as needed. We also maintain an Oracle database running on a Windows NT 4 server and a web server running on RedHat 9 and Apache 1.3.29.

    Staff

    Staff consists of two Network Managers, a Database Analyst, and a staff of three students. The students are classified in one of three primary tasks.
